Delhi : Today in Delhi, Ajit Doval the National Security Advisor swapped elbow bumps, bounding the conventional handshake, with Mike Pompeo the US Secretary and the Defence Secretary Mark T Esper, following social distancing rules amid thecovid-19 pandemic.
The convention at the South Block lasted for 40 minutes leading of the third edition of 2+2 Ministerial discourse. Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Esper arrived in India on Monday for the critical talks aimed at further improving the defence and the security ties between the both countries.
Mr. Ajit Doval was seen doing elbow bumps with the US defense leaders and all of them were wearing face mask. Mr. Pompeo’s mask had the print of American flag.
A senior bureaucrat told that “They discussed on number of the issues and challenges of strategic importance. Both sides highlighted the need to take forward shared objectives and build capabilities across all domains so as to ensure a safe, stable and rule based regional and global security environment”.
The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar clasp the 2+2 talks with their US counterparts, during which the long- expected Basic Exchange and the cooperation Agreement or BECA, which gives idea to India access all classified geo-spatial data as well as critical information having significant military applications from the US.
