New Delhi: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections 2020, Shooter Shreyasi Singh, the daughter of former Union minister late Digvijaya Singh, is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday.

Shreyasi is likely to join the party in the presence of general secretary Arun Singh and State in-charge Sanjay Jaiswal.
Shreyasi competed in the singles double trap event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and won the silver medal. In the Double trap team event, along with Shagun Chowdhary and Varsha Varma she also won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.

In 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, she won a gold medal in the Shooting. To crown her achievements in the sports, Shreyasi was awarded Arjuna Award in 2018.
It is also being speculated that she will be given the party ticket to fight in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Earlier, rumor’s were spread that Shreyasi and her mother expected to join the RJD. Shreyasi’s father was a close friend of Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar but later both the leaders parted ways.
Shreyasi’s mother, Putul Kumari, is also a former MP from Banka, as she was contested in the Lok Sabha bye-election which was held in 2010 as an Independent candidate. Later, She was expelled from the BJP for six years after she decided to compete as an independent from Banka against the official NDA candidate, Girdhari Yadav of JD (U) in 2019.
Bihar assembly election will commence in three phases for its 243 Assembly seats, first phase on October 28, then November 3, and 7 and the counting of votes will begin on November.
