Maharashtra News: As COVID-19 cases in Mumbai are rising again, the BMC has come under pressure again to review what is going on that infectivity which is back in Mumbai. As BMC officials are looking for possible reasons to identify, Mumbai City’s local trains have been come under their watch.

BMC Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal had reported on the daily numbers of Mumbai local trains. He said that at least 50 lakh people per day travel on local trains. The Mumbai trains were operational only this February 1st and it has been off from March to January 31st, 2021 this year.

Till February 1st, less than 400 cases per day were reported. But, in the end of the particular weeks, daily cases have crossed 500+ per day. This was despite all the precautionary measures that the Central and Western Railways took to maintain safety.

He added that 300+ new booking centres and 1300 services are opened to restore transportation through Mumbai city local trains. And, these all happen as per the COVID-19 guidelines. Despite local trains being risky during pandemic, no decision has been made to halt trains again in Mumbai.
