Jammu: On Saturday, A Pakistani drone, loaded with a rifle and some grenades, was shot down by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border in Hirangar sector, Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The 8×8 drone was spotted fluttering in the sky by BSF personnel on patrol duty at Rathua village in the vicinity of Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar around 5.10 am, the officials said. The BSF personnel fired nine rounds and shot it down 250 meters’ inside the Indian territory, they added.
“BSF Jammu shot down a Pakistani Drone near Kathua International Border during the wee hours today morning. The Drone was carrying 1 M4 carbine machine (US Made), 2 filled magazines, 60 Rds. and 7 Chinese grenades,” BSF said, in a statement.
“The BSF intelligence branch was receiving inputs about possible use of Drone for ferrying arms and ammunition from Pakistan into Indian side. Accordingly the troops were put on high alert and the border domination was exponentially increased,” the statement further said.
