World News: Chinese President Xi Jinping claims victory over poverty in China – In a grand ceremony that was held in Beijing to honour those rural development officials, Chinese President exclaimed that no Country can ever perform such a miracle in a short time.
In the ceremony, Xi Jinping came up with crucial numbers relating to China’s efforts in eradicating Poverty.
He said that the daily average income in China had been improved and risen to $2.90 per day, which is higher than World Bank recommended average income of $1.90. Over the last years since Xi Jinping assumed his Office in 2012, nearly 98 million people out of poverty in the rural areas of China.
In the 8 years, 832 poor counties and 1,28,000 villages on the rural areas were removed from impoverished list. Since 1970s’ reforms, opening up of Chinese Economy and the rapid industrialisation, 770 million lives in rural areas were improved in China. 70% world poverty has been alleviated by China’s efforts, as Xi says.
1.6 trillion yuan or $246 billion has been spent in alleviating poverty schemes since 2012. 7 million households belonging to 25.6 million poor people has been re-constructed and 28 impoverished ethnic communities were also lifted out of poverty completely.
Xi Jinping exclaimed that China has been the only country in the world that had taken steps to reach World Bank’s goal of completely eradicating poverty in the World by 2030. He also added that this will go in history as a great achievement.
