COVID–19 : India records surge of 24,248 cases, poll nears to 7 Lakh

New Delhi: On Monday, India recorded a single day surge of 24,248 COVID-19 cases pushing India's poll to 6, 97, 413 while the death poll due to the disease escalated to 19,693 with 425 new fatalities, according to the Union health ministry.

With this, India has recorded over 20,000 COVID – 19 cases for the fourth consecutive day.

The country has become the third worst-hit nation by COVID-19 after surpassing Russia on Sunday. The US and Brazil are ahead of India in terms of total COVID – 19 infections.

According to the Union health ministry data, there are 2,53,287 active COVID – 19 cases in the country. The number of recoveries stands at 4,24,432. “Thus, 60.85 per cent of the patients have recovered so far,” the ministry said.

The total number of confirmed cases includes foreigners who tested positive in India.
