DGCA report says ; The total no. of passenger down 66% in comparison to last September

This year in the month of September the total no. of 39.43 lakh domestic passengers travelled and 66% lower than the same month last year, the country’s aviation regulator DGCA said on Wednesday.

In the month of July and August there are  21.07 lakh and 28.32 lakh people travelled by air route , the regulator had said last month. The total data shared by DGCA is that the Indigo flight  carried out  22.66 lakh passengers in month of  September, 57.5% share of the total domestic market, SpiceJet flew 5.3 lakh passengers, which is 13.4% share of the total market.

On Wednesday it is said , The occupancy rate of six major Indian airlines was between 57 and 73% in September. The Directorate General of civil Aviation said “ The passenger load factor in the month of September 2020 has shown some recovery due to increased demand after the opening of lockdown”.

According to DGCA , in the month of September , the occupancy rate in SpiceJet was 73% and the regulator noted. Meanwhile, the occupancy rate for other major airlines Indigo, Vistara , AirAsia India, Air India and Go Air stood at 66.7%, 65.4%, 58.4%, 57.9% and 57.6%, respectively.

On May 25 , India resumed domestic passenger flights after  gap of 2 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Indian airlines allowed the operate to maximize  60% of their pre-COVID-19 domestic flights.

DGCA noted that the  total no. of 19.84 lakh passengers travelled domestically in June this year. In Between May 25 and May 31, 2.81 lakh air passengers had travelled domestically.

All airlines in India made  cost-cutting measures like as pay cuts, leave without pay and firing of employees in order to control over the crisis.
