Technology News:During an interview with The Information, Mark Zuckerburg, the CEO of Facebook claimed that Facebook is currently on its way to develop a pair of smart glasses that he claims will help people teleport virtually and might possibly be useful in reducing climate change.
He quoted “Obviously, there are going to keep on being cars and planes and all that. But the more that we can teleport around, not only are we personally eliminating commutes and stuff that’s kind of a drag for us individually, but I think that’s better for society and for the planet overall, too.”
“There are going to be all these awesome use cases that come from this…. rather than calling someone or having a video chat, you just kind of snap your fingers and teleport, and you’re sitting there and they’re on their couch and it feels like you’re there together,”
“We talked a little bit about climate change before just being so important. People are just going to want to maybe travel a little less in the future and do it more efficiently, and be able to go places without having to take the travel or commute time.”
Smart Glasses and its technology of virtual and augmented reality are not new to big tech companies in the world. Google was in fact the first company known to come up with the technology of smart glasses known as Google Glasses that has sci-fi movie features. Not many consumers have had it in their hands and was not that popular overall.
Facebook is said to have teamed up with the Italian famous sunglasses brand Ray-ban to offer a suitable frame of specs that might support Facebook’s augmented reality technology. Microsoft came up with Microsoft Mesh that offers mixed reality and works through HoloLens. Mixed Reality combines Augmented and Virtual reality that can change interaction between people forever, the company says.
