Facebook and the Australian Government on Tuesday had reached a conclusion, to restore Facebook news services in Australia and to amend laws as well to accommodate the interests of the tech giants like Google and Facebook. The negotiations were led by Treasurer Josh Frydenburg on behalf of the Australia Government.
Treasurer Josh Frydenburg with Facebook’s Mark Zuckerburg held constructive discussions on reaching a middle ground with the tech giant that considers their interests as well.
However, Josh Frydenburg had confirmed that basic foundations of the law will not be changed that asks them to pay for the news they use.

The News Media and Digital Platforms Bargaining Code Bill, 2020 that was the first of its kind in the World, had intended to make tech giants, digital platforms like Facebook, Google etc to pay news companies in Australia for the content that is used on its platform. This had disturbed Facebook alot, which went on to block its services in Australia.
The opposition party itself had expressed its support in the Senate for the passing of these bill into law.
