First preview of new Android 12:

The first and biggest announcement this year is the new Android 12 software, that is all set to make its release with one of the biggest overhauls in history of OS. The new mobile software comes with new customizable color palettes, also faster notifications and battery-saving performance.

From the lock screen outside to the home screen inside, the aesthetics of Android 12 has gone through a massive upgrade. Android 12 is expected to make to the markets later this year while beta version is already available in select devices of brands like Google’s Pixel Asus, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, TCL, Vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.

WearOS – Tizen merge together to become “Wear”:

The new version of the WearOS is ready to be out and it is going to be different. Samsung’s Tizen OS and Google’s WearOS for their respective smart watch devices will combine together to give us much more optimised systems for our smart watches.

The new OS will result in longer battery life, 24/7 heart rate monitoring system, faster loading for applications and smoother transition animations. As per Google, apps will now be developed for a single platform “Wear”. Samsung also says now that its future Galaxy watch wearables will be based on the new “Wear” platform.

Google Maps’ new safe routing options to drivers:

If you are already following Google’s regular updates for its apps, perhaps you will know this. Google Maps is now gaining a new eco-friendly route option that will give drivers the most fuel-efficient route options. Another feature will be the safe routing option that will use machine learning to provide fuel-efficient routes and safer routing based on road, also weather and traffic conditions, to eliminate sudden breaking/stops.

Google IO 2021 – Smart Canvas:

Smart Canvas is the new update to the Google Workspaces. It appears to be some sort of a cocktail of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. The Smart Canvas is to make online collaborations between various users smoother and easier. Google Meet will now get companion mode to make collaborations smoother using AI for translations, framing and also discussions etc.

LaMDA AI Platform:

LaMDA is an AI based platform to conduct natural language conversations with users, with current voice recognition software, Google Assistants are lacking to do. To demonstrate the new LaMDA, Google showed a video of voice assistant role playing as planet Pluto and having conversation with the user. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said during the presentation. “It’s amazing how sensible and interesting the conversation is. But it’s still early research, so it doesn’t get everything right.”
