Gadget Insights: The Google Shopping mobile app will shortly be no longer available on all Android and iOS phones. The mobile app will be available on mobile platforms only till June and will be permanently shut down after then. Google shopping was introduced in 2019 to rival online shopping companies like Amazon and Flipkart.

The shutdown was first identified by XDA Developers. Google officially confirmed the news to 9to5 Google that all technical support to the Google Shopping mobile app will be cut off gradually within the next few weeks. This decision is taken as Google is trying to conserve its engineering resources for upcoming projects.
However, the web Shopping will remain as it is and will receive new upgrades periodically. Since Google Shopping’s mobile and web interfaces remain similar and what users can get in mobile shopping can get in web as well.

Home on Google Shopping provides users with recommended products users might be interested in. Saved tab is similar to wish lost that holds products and Notification’s tab shows users updates on orders and promotions. Cart tab directs users to start their purchase process.
Though Google came up with Shopping to compete with other leading shopping companies, the Shopping primarily showed products on its website from other websites selling products. And, Google was not keen to create huge warehouses where inventories of its sellers could be kept. In July 2019 it was released in U.S and December 2019 in India.
Google added new features like customer care support, price track, local shops stock list, the option to buy directly from Google, among others.
