Gadget Insights: On Monday, the Minister of Health and Family welfare, Harsh Vardhan launched a mobile application, “Mausam App” which will equip city-wise weather forecasts, nowcasts and other warnings.

The mobile application, ‘Mausam’, has been designed and developed, together, by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Huge financial investments are required, at least twice the present budget, to intensify observational networks, replace old ships and procure new computing resources, said Vardhan, while speaking at the launch event.
The application is available on both Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
The app will offer different services like current weather information, including temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction; weather forecasts, nowcasts, three-hourly warnings, for local weather phenomena, and color coded warnings.
