New Delhi: 20 Indian soldiers have been killed, 4 are critical in a clash with Chinese troops at the disputed borders of Galwan valley in Ladakh, said Indian Army on Tuesday.

The clash is a result of an attempt by the Chinese troops to “unilaterally change” the status quo during de – escalation in Eastern Ladakh and the situation could have been avoided if the Chinese followed the agreement, said Indian army.
An Indian army source said, the incident involved no shooting but “violent hand to hand scuffles”. “They attacked with iron rods, the commanding officer was grievously injured and fell, and when that happened, more soldiers swarmed to the area and attacked with stones.”
Indian intercepts have revealed that Chinese suffered 43 casualties, including deaths and serious injuries.
