India: 407 deaths, 17,296 Coronavirus cases have been recorded in India, on Friday; making a total of 15,301 fatalities and 4,90,401 cases within 24 hours. It is the highest single day surge of COVID – 19 cases, said the Union Health Ministry report.
“407 deaths and highest single-day spike of 17,296 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in India in the last 24 hours. Positive cases in India stand at 4,90,401 including 1,89,463 active cases, 2,85,637 cured/discharged/migrated & 15,301 deaths,” Ministry of Health & Family Welfare data showed.
Of the 407 new deaths reported till Friday morning, 192 were in Maharashtra, 64 in Delhi, 45 in Tamil Nadu, 18 in Gujarat, 15 each in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, 12 in Andhra Pradesh, 10 in Haryana, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Punjab, 6 in Karnataka, 5 in Telangana, 4 in Rajasthan and 2 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The number of active cases stands at 1,89,463 while 2,85,636 people have recovered. “Thus, around 58.24 per cent patients have recovered so far,” an official said.
