Gadget Insights – After updating their phones to the iOS 14 many iPhone users are reporting the battery in the device is draining very fast. Some have said that within an hour they are losing almost 50 to 60 per cent battery.
Apple has published a support document on its website that provides a workaround fixing poor battery performance as many iPhone users reported that after updating their phones to the iOS 14, the battery in the device is draining very fast.
The support document is called “If you’re missing Workout GPS routes or Health data after updating to iOS 14 and watch OS 7” and is aimed at owners that have “updated to iOS 14 and watch OS 7 and are missing Activity or Health data.”
In this document it is listed seven issues that users may face after installing iOS 14.0 and watch OS 7.0. While the six initial issues are related to the missing health and workout data as well as inaccuracy of the data available on the Fitness app or Health app, the seventh issue mentioned in the document is specifically related to the “increased battery drain” problem.
Fix is simple but not very convenient. Apple suggests that users should reset their devices. Here is what apple suggests:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General, then tap Reset.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Once that is done, Apple recommends that you restore the iPhone from the backup. So you will get more or less the same phone and data that you had in the iPhone before the reset. For this, the process is:
— Turn on your iPhone and restore it from your iCloud backup.
If you also have an Apple Watch and reset that, then follow:
- Once restored, open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap Start Pairing and wait for the pairing to complete.
- Tap Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup to restore.
This is not the first time that Apple is facing complaints around battery performance through its new iOS release. It saw similar issues with some of the big iOS updates in the past as well.
