Lonavala News – Rahul Shetty Murder Case : Details of whole case Explained here

Lonavala News : On Tuesday, in connection with the murder of former Shiv Sena local unit Chief, Rahul Shetty, the Lonavala police arrested two persons, including a Hadapsar-based “sharpshooter”. Rahul Shetty, who was the former local unit chief of Shivsena in Lonavla, was shot dead on Monday morning a few meters from his house near a Tea stall.

Based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife, Saumya Shetty, on Monday, police had arrested two persons, named as Sooraj Agarwal and Deepali Bhilare. In this case the arrests now stand at four.

According to sources, In Rahul Shetty Murder case, FIR on 5 people have been lodged in the case.

5. Sadhik Bungali

According to Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav one of the accused, a professional hit-man, arrested on Tuesday, used an axe to inflict two deep injuries on Shetty’s neck before shooting three bullets straight into his head.

“He is 30-years-old and originally hails from Latur, but is settled in Sayyednagar, Hadapsar, Pune. He is using different names and so we are keeping the names guarded as the search for his Aadhar card is on,” Police inspector Yadav adds.

He further said that the other person arrested helped and guided the shooter is aged 40. He is from Battery hill, Khandala. The assassin used both the weapons with ease and is a professional who might have committed crimes in the past.

Meanwhile, Sooraj Agarwal and Deepali Bhilare have been remanded to Police Custody till October 31st.

When Shetty (38) was killed, he was at a tea stall near his house at Jaichand chowk in Lonavala.

Rahul was rushed to a local hospital, but he was announced dead by the doctors. Abhinav Deshmukh, Superintendent of Pune Rural Police also confirmed three bullets were fired at Rahul Shetty and also the arrest of the suspect.

Today (Wednesday) Lonavala police had a press conference, in which Mr. Navanat Kaanvat, briefed Media about the case, and disclosed the names of the shooters [Ibrahim Yusuf Khan and other Mohan(Thapa) ]. He also said that, in a record time of 24hrs, the main accused who used the firearm was arrested by the police.

Based on CCTV footage, the police lodged an offence of murder and an investigation has been initiated.

About 30 years ago, Umesh Shetty, Rahul Shetty’s father was also killed in Lonavala, because of personal enmity.

In Few days, Pune City, and Rural Police, has witnessed three murders. A day before Shetty’s murder, on Sunday night, Ganesh Naidu was murdered at Hanuman Tekdi, Lonavala. On October 2nd, another Shiv Sena leader in Pune, Deepak Maratkar (32), was murdered following a political dispute in Budhwar peth, Pune.
