MahaMetro begins work on pedestrian subway in Swargate


Pune: MahaMetro begins work on pedestrian subway which would link the planned hub to the state transport bus terminus at Swargate of Pune.

The Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation has undertaken the project to construct a subway to facilitate commuters along with the proposed Multi purpose transport hub at Swargate (Pune) near.

The traffic on and under the flyover will be closed as the work has been started to break the walls of the flyover leading to Swargate next to Laxminarayan theatre.

Traffic coming  from Katraj to Swargate will also be diverted as the work under the Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate metro line for the Multipurpose transport centre at Swargate is under progress.

A multipurpose hub with PMPML, bus stand,  metro as well as with the private passenger transport facilities is being set up. This transport centre would be connected to the PMPML Swargate bus stand with an underground route.

Metro work is in full swing in Pimpri-Chinchwad and to expedite the work of the Metro,  the Grade Separator Road from Phugewadi Metro Station to Sandwick Company will remain closed for traffic from 11am to 6pm and 11pm to 6am till the 10th of September. 

MahaMetro also appealed to the motorists to use the service road as the BRT road will also be closed during this time.
