Mizoram: On Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Champhai, Mizoram, said the National Center for Seismology. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at 4.10 am.

A day before, another earthquake of magnitude 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Aizawl, Mizoram at 4.16 pm, added NCS.

Two earthquakes rocked Mizoram within a span of 12 hours. Damage assessment undertaken by concerned MLA and district administration. Fortunately, no casualties reported so far,” Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted.

Following the news, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah, reviewed the situation in Mizoram.

“Spoke to the Chief Minister of Mizoram, Shri Zoramthanga Ji, on the situation in the wake of the earthquake there. Assured all possible support from the Centre,” the prime minister tweeted.

Shah tweeted: “I have spoken to Shri Zoramthanga, Chief Minister of Mizoram, to review the situation after the tremors in the state. I assured him of all possible support from the central government. Praying for everyone’s safety and well-being.”

“Thanking the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Home Minister for their assurance of support,” added Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
