Mumbai News Today:A fruit vendor in Mumbai has been held by the police for allegedly attacking and killing a taxi driver, following a heated argument over the taxi driver refusing to ferry him to someplace in the city, on Sunday at Dadar.

The fruit vendor who is accused, is identified to be Basawraj Melanamani, aged 30 was arrested within hours of the incident near Kabutarkhana where he was seen loitering hours after the crime. The police upon examining the CCTV footages learnt that following a heated argument with the taxi driver, Basawraj hit him multiple times with a paver block.

The taxi driver, identified as Chabiraj Jaiswar was rushed to KEM Hospital immediately, where he was declared dead upon arrival. Basawraj Melanamani is now convicted by the police under IPC Section 302 on accounts of murder.
