The purpose of this scheme is to distribute property cards to give ‘record of rights’ to people in rural areas. This scheme will be implemented in a phased manner in 4 years. It is to be completed between 2020 and 2024 and 6.62 lakh villages of the country will also be covered.

Not only this, under this scheme, demarcation of populated areas of the village will be done with the help of drone survey technique. With this, people living in the village will get their property records of rights. Through these records, they will be able to use their assets financially and can take loans or other financial facilities from the bank.
This scheme will help the government in estimating property tax. Apart from this, it will also help in reducing legal disputes related to land.
According to the information given by the PMO, 1.32 lakh people will be able to download their land papers through an SMS link under this scheme.
In the first phase, 763 villages across 6 states will get the benefit of the scheme. It has 346 villages from Uttar Pradesh, 221 Haryana, 100 Maharashtra, 44 Madhya Pradesh, 50 Uttarakhand and 2 Karnataka.
SMS link will be sent to states other than Maharashtra to download their land documents within a day. In Maharashtra, a fee has been placed on the property card, so there it may take up to a month.
