Private Hospitals in Pimpri Chinchwad refunded ₹37.2 lakhs to patients


A total of 12 private hospitals in Pimpri Chinchwad area have paid a cumulative refund of ₹ 37,27,930 to the patients after N Ashok Babu who is a joint commissioner at Income Tax Department led a committee who identified flaws in the hospital bills.

This committee was appointed by Pune divisional Commissioner and the committee was visiting the hospitals in Pimpri Chinchwad since 27th of July.

A total of 12 hospitals have paid the refund to patients. Our team is working non-stop since we have been appointed by Pune divisional commissioner,” said N Ashok Babu, joint commissioner, income tax department.

They found out that the hospitals were treating Covid-19 Patients didn’t even have the permission to treat Covid-19 patients.

“The Desai accident and general hospital did not avail permission to treat Covid patients, but they still had Covid patients. I have lodged a complaint against them with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) commissioner Shravan Hardikar,” said N Ashok Babu.

One patients Husband said on the condition of anonymity that, “I got ₹25,000 back and my wife was treated at the Sevadharam hospital. The committee is doing a commendable job,”

There are still 3 hospital remaining to give the refund they are,
1:) Ayush multispeciality hospital
2:) Accord hospital
3:) Phoenix hospital

“We are keeping an eye on hospitals which have not paid the refunds till now. Our aim is that people should get the refund as early as possible,” said N Ashok Babu.
