Pune: On Wednesday, Pune district in Maharashtra recorded the highest single day surge of 1,251 COVID – 19 cases within 24 hours, taking its poll of patients to 23,680, said a health official.
The mortality count in the district has risen to 788, with 25 new deaths reported due to COVID – 19, he said.
“Of the 1,251 cases, 860 were reported from areas within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, where the number of patients now mounted to 18,156. However, 589 patients were also discharged from the hospitals during the day,” the official said.
The industrial township of Pimpri Chinchwad has reported 282 COVID – 19 cases, pushing the tally to 3,582, he said.
The total count of positive cases in rustic parts of the district, civil hospital and areas under the Pune Cantonment Board has increased to 1,939, he added.
