Idukki: On the 13th day of rescue and recovery operations following the Rajamala Pettimudi landslide, a 9 year old boys body was recovered raising the death toll to an alarming total of 62.
The dead body was found 10km away from the river of Pettimudi and 3 dead bodies including that of a 6 year old boy were recovered on Tuesday too.
According to the briefing by the Idukki District collector H Dineshan IAS 8 more bodies are yet to be found and that the radar system brought from institute of oceanology was being used for the recovery operations.
The massive landslide happened on the fateful night of august 6 at Pettimudi a hamlet in Rajamala ward of Munnar Gram panchayat in Idukki Kerala.
The collector also said that the rehabilitation services and distributing compensation will be taken place as soon possible, since 13 member team was assigned for it. Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Palanisamo has announced a relief fund of 3 lakhs for the victims and one lakh for the injured.
Earlier, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also had announced the 2 lakh and 5 lakhs for respectively for the victims injured.
