New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of India has asked the Central govt. to direct the state to ensure timely payment of salaries to the doctors and health care workers involved in treating coronavirus patients.
A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, S K Kaul and M R Shah hearing a plea filed by a private doctor, questioning the center’s decision of 14 days quarantine being not mandatory for the doctors; said, the doctors and healthcare workers should not be denied quarantine facilities.
The court has asked the center to compile the payment of salaries and quarantine facilities to the doctors and healthcare workers, and file a report within four weeks. The court has warned that non-compliance would be viewed seriously.
