Latest India News: According to the Health Ministry, certain states in the country are showing signs of plateauing numbers in infection cases, like Maharashtra, Gujarat and even Delhi after month, these states have recorded regular growth in infection numbers.

While infections in other states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Sikkim, West Bengal Tamil Nadu and Tripura are still showing growing trends in numbers of COVID-19 cases. In Chhattisgarh, April 29th recorded a total of 15,583 cases but on May 2nd it recorded only a total of 14,087 cases showing a slight dip in the number of cases in a long while.
States like Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Daman and Diu show similar slump in daily records of cases. Lav Agarwal, Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary also said that there is a positive trend in recovery rates with 78% on May 2nd and 82% on May 5th.
But he also reminded that these are very early signs to conclude and it is important to keep the efforts consistent to contain the viral cases as much as possible so that we keep the progress going. He said that those states that show consistent rising numbers should continue taking actions to actively identify and contain infected patients.

He reminded that it is much more important to contain the infection cases at the very micro-level and continue taking actions on areas where it is reported more. Agarwal also spoke about the actions to be taken to tackle the lack of oxygen, that the government is considering to convert nitrogen plants to produce oxygen out of them.
When asked about the vaccine coverage so far in the country, he said that 12.07 crores are so far administered in the country, with 10.53 crores first doses and 1.54 crores second doses to those above age 45 years.
