SI Raghu Ganesh was arrested late on Wednesday night, shortly after the state Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam guaranteed that the government would ensure “highest punishment” to those responsible for the deaths of P Jayaraj and his son Bennicks.
P Jayaraj and his son Bennicks, who were arrested for violating the lockdown rules, died on June 23, after being allegedly beaten up by police personnel at the Sathankulm police station.
The state govt. had proposed a CBI inquiry into the matter but Madras High Court directed a CB – CID inquiry, lead by Tirunelveli DSP Anil Kumar.
