As cyclone Tauktae played havoc on way to its landfall in Maharashtra as well, television serial sets and film sets that were standing in Film City studio of Mumbai and many others in and around the city were damaged due to the heavy winds of the cyclone.

FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey when contacted by Times reporters said that he has just learnt that several sets in Film City and other studios have been damaged due to the cyclone and are trying to assess the situation.
Dubey was relieved that the Maharashtra government has granted permission to production houses of Mumbai to repair and prepare their open and indoor sets for the upcoming monsoon season that is just around the corner.

Serials and films were being shot before the second lockdown, like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlta Hain, Anupamaa, The Kapil Sharma Show, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Yash Raj Pathan’s film sets and Karan Johar’s Brahmastra sets were some of which were under construction.
Serial shootings in Mumbai were shifted to Gujarat and Daman due to the strict lockdown measures placed by Maharashtra government, despite that certain sets in Mumbai fell prey to the cyclone. While in Gujarat and Daman most of the sets were said to have saved themselves from the cyclone.
Saurabh Tewari, who is shooting for his serial Bawra Dil in Daman, said that all is good there. Super Dancer and Indian Idol sets standing inside the banquet of hotel did not face any damages. While JD Majethia’s Wagle Ki Duniya shot in Silvassa, confirmed of damages to film and television sets in and around Mumbai.

Mathejia said that the winds of the cyclone damaged many sets in Film City Mira Road and Naigaon. Trees fallen by heavy winds damaged sets and exterior portions of sets situated out on the open were completely washed away, are now of no use even if recovered.
