UGC directs Universities to Commence classes from Nov 1st

Education News: According to draft guidelines on the academic year revised by higher education regulator University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday, universities are directed to commence their classes for 1st year from November 1st and no new admissions will be allowed after November 30 without any summer or winter break, until 2022. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made this announcement through his twitter.

“In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the @ugc_india Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21”, he tweeted.

Education Minister also informed that the full fee will be refunded on account of all cancellation of admissions/migration of students.

Previously, an academic calendar issued by UGC on April 29 suggested that classes of first year students should begin on September 1 and final year exams should be conducted from July 1 to July 15. Later, the calendar had to be revised due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
